Barack Obama Returns With Epic 2022 Playlist
It’s that time of year again, when the former United States president, Barack Obama, shares his annual music playlist.
The playlist, which features a selection of old and new songs, was revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday, 26 July alongside his annual reading list.
The 60-year-old captioned the image with: “Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies – it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together.”
While Obama gave Beyonce first place for her recently released party anthem, “Break My Soul”, there were also several noteworthy African artists who made the list.
Nigerian singers Burna Boy and Tems earned their places with their respective singles, “Last Last” and “Vibe Out”. Also mentioned was the Zambian artist, Sampa The Great, with “Energy”.
However, the “coolest” former president brings things down to the ground with well-known hits like Kendrick Lamar’s “Die Hard”, as well as Drake and Rihanna’s “Too Good”.
The rest of the playlist varies considerably, from the retro-funk sounds of Harry Styles’ “Music For a Sushi Restaurant” to the jazzy style of Dr John’s “More Than You Know”. Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You” brings all of the feel-good vibes to the equation.
